Man charged with six felonies after police say he shot up Rexburg Motel 6

Madison County police charged a Mississippi man with six felonies after he allegedly shot up a Motel 6.

Police say the man, 35-year-old Johnnie Kendrall Adams, fired 13 rounds from an AR-15 rifle into the front of the motel after a disagreement with the staff.

An employee called 911, and police arrived on the scene, confirming there were no injuries. Local schools were told to shelter in place for one hour while police searched for Adams.

When police took Adams into custody, they say they also found drugs in his possession.

Adams is being charged with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm into an occupied building--all felonies.

"We would like to especially thank the public for all of the tips and information received about this case and thank all of the agencies involved that assisted in the apprehension of Adams," said Gary Hagen, assistant chief of the Rexburg Police Department.
